Formula One Teams' Association officially disbands

The Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) has officially disbanded after six years.

It was originally formed in 2008 to give all teams a united voice in discussions with F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone and the FIA regarding their future in the sport.

2014 Bahrain Test (2) - Day 2

The third and final pre-season test of the 2014 season continued on Friday, with Sergio Perez setting the pace once again.

It was a heavily disrupted session with even the Mercedes-powered runners suffering reliability issues. It was a more promising day for Red Bull and Marussia, but McLaren and Lotus lost crucial track time.

2014 Bahrain Test (1) - Day 4

The second winter test of the 2014 Formula 1 season has come to a close, following a heavily disrupted fourth day of on-track action at the Bahrain International Circuit.

There will now be a four-day break before the 11 teams return to the 3.63-mile track for the final pre-season test.

Like the previous two days, fortunes were mixed with reliability woes costing several teams track time. Lewis Hamilton set the pace as the second half of testing got underway.

2014 Bahrain Test (1) - Day 2

The chequered flag flew at the Bahrain International Circuit on Thursday, signalling the mid-way point of winter testing ahead of the 2014 Formula 1 season.

It was a far more productive day for all 11 teams in attendance, despite there being four red flag periods, with 671 laps being completed overall.

Lotus officially confirms extended Renault partnership

The Lotus F1 Team has officially confirmed that Renault will remain as its power-unit supplier for "2014 and beyond".

The news comes as little surprise and was merely a formality; coming one day after the Enstone-based outfit's new E22 took to the Bahrain International Circuit with Renault power.

2014 Bahrain Test (1) - Day 1

The Lotus E22 made its public debut when the track eventually opened, following a 30 minute delay due to a problem with the track marshals.

Lotus debuts new E22 in Bahrain

Finally, this season's F1 grid is now complete after Lotus became the 11th and final team to debut its 2014 challenger.

 The team opted to skip the opening four-day test at the Jerez circuit, deciding instead to complete more development and preparation work on the new E22 at its Enstone factory.

Pirelli to bring protoype compound to Bahrain

Pirelli, Formula 1's sole type supplier, is expecting more running to take place at this week's winter test in Bahrain.

Warmer temperatures will give teams and the Italian manufacturer more representative running and data from the test, which is the second of the 2014 season.

Newey blames packaging problems and lack of time for Jerez issues

Adrian Newey, Red Bull Racing's chief technical officer, has admitted that packaging problems and a lack of time contributed to the team's problems at the first winter test.

Inaugural Formula E grid starts to take shape

For a change, this blog won’t be on the topic of Formula 1. However, I’m not straying too far from the sport, this time sharing some thoughts on the inaugural Formula E season.

The grid for the up-coming first campaign, which will take place between September 2014 and June 2015, is starting to take shape with the first two drivers being announced. 

Sauber announce de Silvestro as "affiliated driver"

Simona de Silvestro has been announced as an "affiliated driver" at the Sauber F1 Team.

She will join the Swiss outfit's driver development programme, with the goal being to gain her superlicense and prepare for a Formula 1 race seat in 2015.

Manager: Schumacher remains "in waking up process"

Michael Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm has released a new statement, saying he remains in the "waking up process."

The seven-time world champion has been in a medically-induced coma, following a skiing accident in the French Alps, since December 29th.

Domenicali warns F1 against "scaremongering"

Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali has urged F1 to give the sport's new 2014 regulations a chance before criticising them.

He also commented on the Maranello-based outfit's decision to re-hire Kimi Raikkonen to partner Fernando Alonso, saying the Finn is "more mature" now.

The return of Kamui Kobayashi

Kamui Kobayashi’s future in Formula 1 looked uncertain when he was dropped by Sauber at the end of 2013. However, he has officially made his return to the sport after joining Caterham.
