Some gained plenty of mileage with their new machines, while others continued to struggle with reliability woes. Here are stats and facts from the first Bahrain test, including combined times and lap counts.

It was another hugely interesting and intriguing four-day event, like Jerez, but we still can't read too much into the times. Reliability was still the major focus and judging by that, Mercedes, Williams and McLaren certainly look to have the early advantage.

Ferrari gained plenty of running with its F14 T, although they have some work to do to repair the car for the third and final test (which takes place from the 27th February to the 2nd March) after Kimi Raikkonen found the wall at the end of day four.

Caterham's CT05 looks like the most reliable of the Renault runners, while rivals Marussia struggled to even emerge from the garage. Red Bull and Toro Rosso remain on the back foot and Lotus had a difficult first test with its E22.

Combined times from all four sessions, with the day the fastest lap was set in brackets:
  1. Nico Rosberg, Mercedes, 1m33.283 (Day 4)
  2. Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes, 1m34.263 (Day 3)

Day four was the quietest of the test, with just 469 laps being completed. The busiest session was day three with a total of 695 laps. The 11 teams registered a combined tally of 482 laps on day one and 676 laps on day two.

Teams had 30 sets of Pirelli compound tyres each to use at the second test, with 22 compounds being selected by the Italian supplier (plus the prototype medium compound to test its behaviour without tyre warmers for 2015). The remaining eight sets were then chosen by the teams.

The approximate performance difference between the tyre compounds in Bahrain were as follows: the supersoft was 0.7 seconds faster than the soft, the soft was around 1.2 seconds quicker than the medium, which was around 1.3 seconds faster than the hard Pirelli tyre.

A total of 24 drivers took part in the first Bahrain test - 22 race drivers and two reserves. 2,322 laps were completed in total (12,566 kilometres) compared to 1,470 laps at the first test in Jerez. 341 sets of tyres were flown to Bahrain, with 199 being used. The medium tyre was the most popular slick compound, with the supersoft being used the least.

The warmer conditions in Bahrain helped teams gain more representative data with their new cars. The highest ambient temperature registered was 27 degrees, with the least being 17 degrees. The track temperatures was even hotter, with a top temperature of 37 degrees and the lowest being 18 degrees.

Second test reports: Day one, day two, day three and day four.
