Daniel Ricciardo set the pace for Red Bull Racing, after a largely trouble-free and productive second day behind the wheel of the Red Bull RB11.

Jolyon Palmer made his debut as Lotus F1's reserve driver, while a schedule change saw Fernando Alonso drive for McLaren.

Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa were the first to take to the track, but the red flag quickly emerged after Ricciardo stopped at the end of the pit lane. The session soon resumed, with Marcus Ericsson setting the first timed lap - a 1:38.337.

Sergio Perez, driving the 2014 Force India once again after being called up to replace Pascal Wehrlein for Thursday's afternoon session, quickly moved to the top spot.

The Mexican traded fastest times with Nico Rosberg mid-way through the morning, before both were displaced by Ricciardo.

The Australian went into the lunch break as the fastest driver, setting a 1:24.574 on the soft tyre late in the session. Rosberg completed the most laps of anyone, 65, but the German was replaced by Lewis Hamilton for Mercedes' afternoon running.

Rosberg was unable to take over the team's Thursday running after Hamilton fell ill due to a trapped nerve in his neck. As a precaution and with last year's world champion feeling better, Rosberg handed the W06 Hybrid over to his team-mate for the rest of the day.

The majority of teams focused on long runs in the afternoon, with Ricciardo completing an impressive race distance - interrupted by the second red flag of the day, after Carlos Sainz Jr beached his Toro Rosso STR10 in the gravel at turn nine.

The three-time race winner's morning time proved to be unbeatable. He ended the second day of testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya at the top of the timesheets, after managing 143 laps. Raikkonen remained second, just 0.010 seconds further back, after completing 90 laps.

A late improvement saw Massa rise to third, just under one tenth behind Ricciardo. The Brazilian enjoyed a successful first day back in the car, lapping the track 88 times. Perez was fourth, completing 121 laps, and Hamilton completed the top five.

The Englishman managed 89 laps on Friday afternoon, 23 more than Rosberg completed in the morning session. Hamilton's 2014 title rival finished sixth on the timesheets, ahead of Alonso.

The Spaniard enjoyed a positive day driving the Honda-powered MP4-30, completing 59 laps. The progress made was encouraging, after McLaren was forced to cut short its running on day one after a MGU-K problem.

Palmer was eighth for Lotus. Ericsson brought out a late red flag after stopping on the pit straight but still managed 113 laps in total, while Sainz Jr returned to the track after his spin to boost his lap tally to 100. The Toro Rosso driver rounded out the times.
