The teams reserve driver Jerome D'Ambrosio, who kept Timo Glock on his toes last year when he raced at Marussia, will take the French drivers place. The Belgian is a regular GP2 commentator alongside Will Buxton but his services are needed on track for Monza.

It was confirmed today (Tuesday) that Grosjean's replacement for the Italian Grand Prix will be Jerome D'Ambrosio, who has been given a spectacular chance to impress.

Team Principal Eric Boullier said "We know that Jerome is well integrated into the team and that he did a good job when he drove the E20 at the Mugello test, now he has the challenge of a grand prix at the challenging circuit of Monza, in a car which is capable of finishing on the podium."

D'Ambrosio said on the opportunity I will hand the wheel back to Romain after Sunday’s race and I hope that this one showing in Italy will allow me to show my capabilities fully."

It was reported that the Belgian driver returned to the Lotus garage at the Spa circuit on Sunday for a seat fitting.

I am happy for Jerome. It will give him a good chance to show what he's worthy of, and hopefully a team will notice that for next year.
