Valtteri Bottas has admitted that the Singapore Grand Prix could be his best chance to score a point.
The only night race on the calendar is usually full of drama. There could be a high rate of attrition with the close proximity of the barriers and the tight and technical track being tough on the cars.
There has also been a total of eight safety car periods during the last five races around the Marina Bay Street Circuit, which could also help Bottas into the points.
The Finn has failed to score a point in his rookie season, largely thanks to the difficult FW35.
Discussing the chance of scoring this weekend he said: "I think so, this should be the place to get the points. Like you said, a lot of things can happen in the race and safety cars etc. Like I said before, if some of the little updates work and we can get a little more speed and be a bit closer to the top ten in pure pace, then it's always possible to get points and we need to keep pushing for that."
He also admitted earlier in the press conference that he is expecting a tough weekend on his first visit to Singapore as a Formula 1 driver: "I think it's going to be a difficult race weekend, like Monaco was first time for me. And then this track, it's a night race obviously but the lighting is very good and bright so that shouldn't make a big difference but y'know, it's a difficult circuit, a lot of corners, so there's lots to learn on Friday."
Meanwhile team-mate Pastor Maldonado commented on his future at Williams earlier in the weekend, telling ESPN: "I would like the fastest car to drive because it should be the best, but there are only two drivers there. We need to see. I hope next year here with the new car, new engine, new regulations... they have been working very hard.
He added: "They've replaced some personnel in the team, we have new people, new people will arrive. In my opinion the restructuring of the team is going in a good way and I hope to stay. I hope to stay; maybe it's a safe decision but you never know, the market is still open."
