Mercedes F1 Simulator Run for Kubica

Former BMW Sauber and Renault F1 driver Robert Kubica has confirmed that he tested out the Mercedes F1 Simulator at their Brackley based factory.

There had been reports circulating that the Polish driver had tried out the simulator after a rival team member spotted him at Heathrow Airport. Kubica has yet to return to the cockpit of a Formula 1 car since his horrific rally crash in February 2011.
Since then he has been racing competitively in rallying, this year tackling the European Rally Championship. Speaking to AUTOSPORT over the Rally Azores weekend, he confirmed that he tried out the simulator. "I can say yes, I was there. But I cannot say how many times or how many laps I did.

"But there is this rumour to which I say, yes, I was in the Mercedes F1 simulator in the past."

However he was coy on the subject of a return to the simulator. "Maybe, I don't know. But it's not that every time someone sees me at Heathrow airport I am going to Mercedes.

"I am also at Heathrow for different reasons, it doesn't always have to be a connection with that."

Kubica has previous links to Mercedes after testing for their DTM team in February.

He also believes that his injuries have healed sufficiently for him to return to F1.
