Big GP2 crash at Eau Rouge

It is never good crashing at Eau Rouge, but this one was pretty big. The incident happened on the 3rd lap of the GP2 feature race and involved Ocean Racing's Nigel Melker. The 21 year old lost control mid-way through the iconic corner. He tried to correct the mistake but ended up hitting the barrier pretty heavily. The race, which was eventually won by Marcus Ericsson, went under safety car conditions and was later stopped as work needed to be done on the barriers. The race then went to restart but it was delayed again because the medical helicopter, taking Melker to hospital, had not returned.

The latest on Melker is that he is conscious and went to hospital for mandatory check-ups.
