Renault have told Robert Kubica he will not be ready in time for the 2012 season. Kubica severely injured his legs and hands in a Rallying crash earlier this year. He has made miraculous improvements over recent months after numerous operations but it seems he will still not be ready to race.

The team have set out a number of simulation and track time for his when he is ready to attempt to drive again, but they "regret" to say he is not 100% fit and able to drive.
They have however said that depending on his progress a late or mid season entrance for the Polish driver could be on the cards. Team principal Eric Boullier said on the matter 'Everybody in the team is, of course, very disappointed. Robert not driving in Australia at the start of next season is not what we were all hoping for. However, he has taken a very mature decision, acting in the best interests of Lotus Renault GP.'
This means that Lotus Renault Gp will have to look elsewhere for permanent or part time 2012 driver line ups. Current drivers Vitaly Petrov, Brunno Senna and reserve driver Romain Grosjean are in the running and talks are currently being made. In my own view i feel the current driver line up is strong and can be capable of good results when the car is on it.
Kubica said 'Even if I've been working very, very hard over the course of the last few weeks, I came to the conclusion that I am not yet certain to be ready for the 2012 season. I have called the team and I have informed them of the situation. It is thought that Robert's physical fitness will not be level with what is expected from F1 drivers so the decision was made to at least wait until mid season.
Robert was quoted saying this year has seen the "most difficult" period of his life but now his doctors are "impressed" and he is "encouraged" by his progress and had to make the most "reliable" and reasonable decision.
