F1 Flashback - Driving one handed at the Hockenheimring

The 2004 German Grand Prix was predictably won by Michael Schumacher, but the thing I remember most about this race was Jenson Button's one-handed driving.

The British driver started down in 13th place due to a 10-place engine change penalty but he quickly made his way through the pack.

Button was one of the stars of the German GP after his brilliant recovery, but his second place was made even more impressive by the fact that he had to drive one-handed for part of the race.

During his battle with Fernando Alonso, it became clear Button was having to reach for his helmet on the straights. It later emerged that his helmet strap had become loose.

He was having to pull the helmet down on the straights to avoid the strap from choking him. But despite the inconvenience he managed to pass Alonso and finish in the runner-up spot.

Enjoy the video above, which features some brilliant engine noise, a great scrap with Alonso's Renault and Button's rather unusual one-handed driving.
