The track’s sophisticated sprinkler system enabled Pirelli to test in a variety of wet weather conditions, with a number of prototype tyres being tested.

Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull took part in the test. The tyres did not carry markings, while teams and drivers were not told which specifications they were using.

The short circuit configuration was used for the two full days. Five drivers hit the track over the event, racking up 2,326 kilometres of running.

Sebastian Vettel set the quickest lap of the test, putting in a 1:06.750 on Tuesday. He managed 134 laps. Daniil Kvyat also drove on day two and was just under one tenth further back, completing 113 laps.

Stoffel Vandoorne was the only driver to run on both days. He was at the wheel of McLaren’s MP4-30, setting a best time of 1:07.758. Despite engine issues he lapped Paul Ricard 87 times on Monday and 127 times on Tuesday.

Daniel Ricciardo returned to the track for the first time in 2016, getting Red Bull’s wet tyre test underway on the opening day. He set the fourth best overall time and managed 99 laps. Kimi

Raikkonen was also one shy of the 100-lap mark after his outing on Monday for Ferrari, finishing bottom of the leaderboard with a 1:09.637. Pirelli was able to gather significant amounts of data of its prototype wet tyres from the event.

The next outing will be the first pre-season test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from the 22-25 February.
