The 2015 MotoGP season continues to thrill and excite, and the sport returns to Silverstone – the ‘Home of British Motorsport’ – from the 28-30 August.
Motorbike legend Valentino Rossi currently leads the way in the title fight, ahead of Jorge Lorenzo, Andrea Iannone and 2014 champion Marc Marquez. Here is your ultimate guide to the MotoGP British Grand Prix.
Fact File:
Date: 28-30 August 2015
Location: Silverstone Circuit
Track length: 3.667 miles
Corners: 18
Race laps: 20
Lap record: 2:01.941, Dani Pedrosa, 2013
Average speed: 107.6mph (173.2kph)
Top speed: 204.2mph (328.6kph)
Support races: Moto2, Moto3
Top Spectator Spots:
Club Corner Grandstand – This vantage point provides a great view of Stowe, the Vale chicane and the Club complex, as well as the Silverstone Wing.
National Pit Straight Grandstand – MotoGP will use the old pit lane complex and start line, meaning Copse is the first corner. The opening lap always provides drama, and a seat in the National Pit Straight grandstand will allow you to watch the bikes leave the grid.
Luffield Grandstand – The atmosphere is always electric on a big race meeting at Luffield, and you get a good view of the Wellington Straight, Brooklands, Luffield (of course) and Woodcote.
In general admission? Sitting at the end of Stowe is a good spot, to see the bikes approaching at speed and tackling the challenging right-hander. MotoGP will look at its best through Becketts, so watching from the GA banks there is a good shout. Copse will also be a good viewing point, especially for the start.
