Friday

Marcus Ericsson was the first driver to be eliminated from the opening segment of qualifying and was joined by Nico Hulkenberg, Sergio Perez, Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi.

Small steps for McLaren, with both Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button making it through to Q2. They qualified 13th and 14th, behind the Lotus duo and ahead of Felipe Nasr.

Toro Rosso's two rookies impressed in Q3, with Carlos Sainz Jr and Max Verstappen qualifying fifth and sixth, ahead of Kimi Raikkonen, Daniil Kvyat, Felipe Massa and Daniel Ricciardo.

Rosberg was unbeatable in qualifying, taking pole position by three tenths of a second. Hamilton and Vettel were second and third, with Valtteri Bottas in fourth.
