Jack Leslie F1: 2015 Spanish Grand Prix In Pictures

Nico Rosberg stormed to a controlled first victory of the 2015 season at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton used a three-stop strategy to move ahead of Sebastian Vettel, finishing second and third. Here is the race weekend in pictures.

Friday

Pastor Maldonado, Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz Jr were the first to take to the track for first practice.

There were three test and reserve drivers in action at the Circuit de Barcelona-Cataunya, with Susie Wolff, Jolyon Palmer and Raffaele Marciello completing FP1 for Williams, Lotus and Sauber respectively.

Rosberg finished first practice at the top of the timesheets, ahead of his Mercedes team-mate.

Lotus showed off a new sponsor, with logos for the film Mad Max appearing in the sidepod of the E23 Hybrid.

Hamilton was quickest in the second practice session, with Vettel and Rosberg in second and third.

Ferrari appeared to be further off Mercedes in Spain, although the Maranello-based outfit remained the second best team.

It was an unusual session for Romain Grosjean, with the Frenchman losing his engine cover on the pit straight mid-way through FP2.

Saturday

Rosberg returned to the top of the timesheets in Saturday's third practice session, with Vettel second once again for Ferrari.

Hamilton suffered a spin at Turn 3 during FP3, which ruined his set of hard compound tyres and cut his run short.

Marcus Ericsson was the first driver to be eliminated from the opening segment of qualifying and was joined by Nico Hulkenberg, Sergio Perez, Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi.

Small steps for McLaren, with both Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button making it through to Q2. They qualified 13th and 14th, behind the Lotus duo and ahead of Felipe Nasr.

Toro Rosso's two rookies impressed in Q3, with Carlos Sainz Jr and Max Verstappen qualifying fifth and sixth, ahead of Kimi Raikkonen, Daniil Kvyat, Felipe Massa and Daniel Ricciardo.

Rosberg was unbeatable in qualifying, taking pole position by three tenths of a second. Hamilton and Vettel were second and third, with Valtteri Bottas in fourth.

Sunday

Rosberg led the field away at the start, with Hamilton dropping to third after suffering wheelspin.

There were some close battles in the midfield pack over the first few laps of the race.

Vettel and Hamilton went for two different strategies, and a switch to a three-stop race helped Hamilton move ahead of the Ferrari driver.

Following a tough qualifying, Ricciardo enjoyed a positive run to seventh for Red Bull.

Toro Rosso's two drivers slipped back at the start but recovered to ninth and 11th.

Bottas raced to fourth, holding off Raikkonen in the final stint.

Out front, Rosberg took a clear win - his first of the season - and bounced back from a difficult start to 2015.

Hamilton moved up to second on a three-stop strategy, with Vettel in third for Ferrari.
