My Wednesday kicked off with a 1.15am alarm, which I swiftly shut up. However, I accidentally fell back to sleep and woke up about 20 minutes later. Not the best start.
After a brief panic, I was able to finish packing before then hitting the road - the road trip to the Red Bull Ring had officially got under way.
My Dad was kind enough to drive me to my meeting point with Leanne Boon from Octane Photographic. Having switched cars - from a Renault Espace to a snazzy Mercedes AMG Sport E-Class Estate (one of the nicest cars I have ever sat in - it was certainly very comfy on the long cruise to Austria), we started the journey to the Channel Tunnel.
In case you don't know, I will be at the Austrian Grand Prix this weekend, reporting on all the action for Richland F1. It is my first F1 race as a journalist, so I obviously can't wait.

On the way to the "Chunnel" (as my Dad calls it), we picked up Luke Smith - Richland F1 founder and editor-in-chief, as well as the F1 writer for NBC Sports.
It was my first experience on the Channel Tunnel and I found it a bit odd, but the journey didn't take long and it is a much better option in comparison to taking a ferry. We were greeted by a rather grey and dull France. It soon started to rain but as we left the country and passed through Belgium and Germany, the sun emerged.
One main issue during the journey was road works, which meant it took a little longer than we had expected. Following a very long stint moving through Germany (and a rather awkward stop at a petrol station, where the lady serving me didn't speak English), we then made it to Austria.
It was the fifth country that we had been to in the space of one day, which was a little bit weird. I have never really been in a car for a long period of time, so it was certainly an interesting experience.
From my first impressions, staring out of the car window, I must say that Austria looks like a really beautiful place - the scenery is stunning, the pictures I took really do not do it justice.
After hitting the road at 2.15am in the morning, we finally arrived at our hotel just after 8:00pm. We struggled to find the entrance to where we were staying, but we discovered it eventually.
It has been a long, long day but the journey will be worth it. I can't wait to start work in the paddock tomorrow and fulfil a dream that I have had since I started writing back in 2012.
I will try and keep you all updated with what I have been up to at the Red Bull Ring in posts on this blog each night. Also, be sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram too for (hopefully) a few behind-the-scenes images and posts from the paddock.
