The third round of the 2014 season was the first Bahrain Grand Prix to take place at night and under floodlights.
The later start time produced some stunning photographs. Here is the race weekend in pictures.
Friday
The Mercedes drivers dominated Friday practice in Bahrain, with Nico Rosberg setting the fastest time in FP1 and Lewis Hamilton topping the timesheets in FP2.
Pastor Maldonado spent part of the second session in the garage after damaging his car on the exit kerb at turn four. His Lotus E22 was launched into the air after he re-joined the track.
Fernando Alonso's weekend got off to a promising start on Friday, after the Spaniard finished both practice sessions in third.
Marcus Ericsson's second session came to an early end after he was forced to stop his Caterham CT05 on the circuit.
Saturday
Nico Rosberg stormed to pole position for the Bahrain Grand Prix on Saturday after a close fight with his team-mate. More battling was to follow...
Red Bull Racing suffered mixed fortunes on Saturday. Sebastian Vettel was knocked out of the second qualifying session but Daniel Ricciardo set the third fastest time in Q3. Unfortunately he started 13th thanks to a 10-place grid penalty from Malaysia.
Valtteri Bottas starred for Williams in qualifying, setting the fourth fastest time and eventually starting third on the grid.
Nico Hulkenberg surprisingly failed to make it through to Q3 after a scruffy lap, leaving him with plenty of work to do in the race.
Sunday
Kimi Raikkonen struggled throughout the Bahrain Grand Prix and was disappointed to finish 10th.
Felipe Massa had a fantastic start to move from seventh to third. Meanwhile Hamilton move into the lead at turn one.
The race was a real thriller. Mercedes dominated but it was an incredibly close fight for the lead.
Hamilton eventually crossed the line to take the race win, despite Rosberg overtaking him on numerous occasions.
The Red Bull Racing drivers also battled well, with Ricciardo finishing fourth and Vettel in sixth.
Due to the later start time, the cars lined up on the grid as the sun was setting, creating stunning images like this one.
Watch out! Esteban Gutierrez was launched into a scary barrel-roll by Pastor Maldonado mid-way through the race. Fortunately he was uninjured.
The Force India drivers were involved in an intense fight for third place, running in close proximity throughout the race.
Sergio Perez crossed the line to take only the second ever podium in the history of the Force India team, and his first since Italy 2012.
