Hamilton shares admiration for Vettel

Lewis Hamilton has shared his admiration for triple world champion Sebastian Vettel after feeling the need to clarify his earlier comments that the German's dominance was putting fans to sleep.

Vettel is on the brink of his fourth consecutive world title and could be crowned 2013 champion at this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix.

Hamilton claimed over the Korean Grand Prix weekend that fans are frustrated and bored of Vettel's dominance, comparing it to the Schumacher era between 2000 and 2004. He said: "Personally I feel for the fans because I remember the period of time when Michael Schumacher was winning.

"I remember waking up in the morning to watch the start of the race and then going to sleep, and then waking up when it ended because I already knew what would happen. I am pretty sure a lot of people are doing that."

However he obviously felt that he needed to explain his feelings in a clearer way, using Twitter to do so.

He said: "Good morning all. Read some of the stories/reports of my comments on Seb. Feel the need to clarify my thoughts. Seb is great champion!!

"Not only that, he is a great human being who is funny and humble. Deserves all the success he is having!"

Hamilton, along with several other drivers, has previously said that his dominance is more down to the machinery he is driving. However, the 28-year-old conceded that Vettel is doing a faultless job: "I admire his dedication & ability to consistently perform without mistakes. This is the mark of a true champion."

"Regardless of what you & I may think about his car, at the end of the day he's doing the perfect job.

"I'm just grateful I get to drive in an era with so many great drivers like him. God Bless & have an amazing day!"

Sebastian Vettel is now 77 points clear of nearest rival Fernando Alonso in the driver's standings, with a maximum of 125 points still up for grabs. Hamilton is 111 points behind the German, who would incredibly sit fourth in the constructor's standings if he was the sole diver at Red Bull Racing.
