They were once good friends, but that all changed after Sutil was involved in a nightclub incident back in April 2011.
Hamilton was asked to testify at his trial but he decided not to take the stand, leaving Sutil with an 18-month suspended sentence, a £167,000 fine to pay off and a dented reputation.
Since Sutil's return to Formula 1 in 2013, the topic of his relationship with Lewis Hamilton has come up on a number of occasions.
When they were both involved in the FIA Driver Press Conference in Monaco, the subject came up and Hamilton revealed that the relationship was very "different" but that they were planning to get together and chat it out.
Well that has - so far - failed to happen and Sutil is not happy about it. Speaking to GP Week he said: "No, no [we haven't spoken about it still]. For some reason he never contacted me again...He always said he is my friend but he wishes to suddenly disappear - he changed his [telephone] number."
Sutil revealed that he saw him in the Hungaroring paddock, with Lewis confirming that they could 'sit down and talk about it', but Sutil revealed that "he never arrived."
Slamming Hamilton for ignoring his request to talk, he said: "So these kinds of people I don't really respect.
I respect him as a sportsman, but I think in private he is not on my level and I don't need to waste time with those people. I'm happy that I realised what kind of a person he is. I have good friends, people I can learn from, and this is the most important."
He added: "I'm happy that I found out earlier rather than later. Here on the circuit, this is business, he's a great racing driver but we haven't really spoken about it."
This whole situation has obviously riled Sutil up the wrong way and those comments were pretty harsh. Should the two just realise that it's not worth making such a fuss over and concentrate on the racing?
After all, can you really be good friends with your close competitor? I personally think Sutil has made much to big of a deal over this, it wasn't Hamilton's fault he was standing trial and he didn't have to testify and get involved in the whole thing.
Lets just hope these two can sweep it under the rug and we can forget about this painfully awkward situation.
