The British Grand Prix race winner spoke in a post-race video blog about the troubles experienced during the German round after he started 11th on the grid. He had a tough time with tyre wear and failed to make much progress from his grid slot.

Rosberg said that Mercedes were back to "Bahrain and Barcelona" where he said the car was just "sliding everywhere" with overheating tyres.

He had hoped to fight through the field after a team error meant he failed to make it through to Q3. He said it was a "long day" and he felt that the last stint was strong but the first few stints were tough and he failed to make up ground.

The Mercedes driver also discussed the causes of slump to the midfield: "A lot of work ahead of us again. Mainly I think it could just be a change to the tyres that has caused us to have trouble again. We need to re-analyse and re-think about it and make the most of these different tyres that we have now, although in Hungary it's going to be different tyres again."

The 28-year-old admitted that it was "rock bottom" after the earlier soaring highs.
