With no French Grand Prix and four of their drivers on the Formula 1 grid, it's no wonder that the French fans flock to Monaco to watch their heroes in action.
The principality is the closest race to France and Caterham driver Charles Pic is hopeful that the team can put on a good showing for the visiting fans.
Speaking in a team statement, Pic said "It's always fun on track, but it's busy for the drivers and as it's right next to France there are a lot of French fans and I'm sure it will be good entertainment for them and everyone who goes."
He added "We don't have a race in France at the moment so Monaco's the nearest place to see F1 for all the French fans who really do love our sport." After the improvements demonstrated in Spain, the Frenchman is hopeful that the upward trend can continue around the twisty streets. "We have to be focused on optimising the car, extracting 100 percent for qualifying and then focusing on the race. We've definitely been improving over the last could of races, so the aim is to carry that through to Monaco."
Team-mate Giedo van der Garde is excited to make his Formula 1 debut at the prestigious race. "Monaco is one of my favourite races of the year. For me the track is very special, it holds a lot of great memories as over the last few years I've been on the podium every time I've raced there." His GP2 success has stipulated him into his Caterham drive, and he stresses the importance of getting up to speed with the car. "It takes a few laps for the car to really come in and of course for me this year it will be another new experience with the F1 car, but I'll get the flow back quickly and I have a good team around me so everything should go well."
The Dutch driver also believes that the short lap distance and full downforce give the "smaller teams" a chance to shine, and he hopes that the Leafield based squad can finish closer to the top 10. "What we want to do is build on the progress we made in Spain, show a bit more of our potential, and with a bit of luck we can come close to the top 10."
