In reference to the article title, driver Jules Bianchi certainly thinks so.
Talking to Sky Sports F1 on their weekly magazine show the Frenchman predicted points finishes for the Banbury based squad, but he did reiterate that they have to be realistic and it will be tough. They are obviously not targeting big points hauls but Bianchi shared his thoughts on the possibility of nabbing a point or two
So far the squad have had a best finish of 13th place thanks to Bianchi's impressive performance in Malaysia. As I said in a previous article, if anyone can score a point for Marussia it is the 23-year-old.
Talking on the F1 Show, where Bianchi was a special guest, he said "we have to be realistic, I think it will be difficult as we are still missing some performance, but if we can do it, we will and our target will be to score our first point this year for sure."
He added "First of all I will try to finish every race - I know it will be something really difficult, so I will focus on that and try to gain more experience by finishing every race I can."
However Bianchi understands that things can change in the fast world of Formula 1 and he can only try his best. "I am trying to do my best, but you never know what will happen. Every sport is the same - one day you are on the top, the next you are on the bottom."
Bianchi experienced this for the first time this season. After racing for wins and at the front in Formula Renault 3.5 last year he now moves up in the motorsport world but is fighting at the back. However he knows how hard he needs to work.
"So you just have to work as much as you can all the time and don't think you have already arrived. For sure I will try to keep my level as it is now and even improve as I need to improve for sure."
So are points a realistic target for Marussia? They have edged closed to the midfield already, particularly in the case of Bianchi who has a clear pace advantage on team-mate Chilton. Caterham are struggling and will not have a new update until the Spanish round, leaving them already behind in the development race.
As Bianchi rightly says, they just need to work hard and see what happens. It can all change and Marussia could find themselves hitting a sweeter spot than where they are currently with the car.
