The Brit gave a motivational speech to all the team members ahead of his debut for the team at winter testing in Jerez. Here are some pictures of the visit, as well as some quotes from the driver himself.

Mercedes have had a real shake up for 2013. First they sign British star and 2008 World Champion Lewis Hamilton, bumping experienced legend Michael Schumacher out of a race seat. Then they poach Toto Wolff from Williams and now rumours are circulating about a possible move from McLaren to Mercedes by Paddy Lowe, the Woking teams current technical director.

Despite the rumour mill spinning faster than ever, Hamilton focused on his season ahead. In a Interview released by Mercedes he said ""I think this year is going to be an interesting year, an interesting journey, but I think it's going to be a journey we enjoy. I live to win. That's what I work towards every year, so that's what we're going to work towards this year. Of course it's going to be tough to compete with the guys who are already at the front – the Red Bulls, the McLarens, the Ferraris – but I don't think it's impossible."

He also spoke about quickly integrating himself in the team, saying "To be back and to know I'm part of the Mercedes world is a real privilege. I'm so grateful to be welcomed into the team and really excited," said Hamilton. "I've been to Brackley (the Mercedes F1 base) in the early part of December, asking lots of questions, trying to get as involved as I can in the limited time that I was there.

"It was great to see how enthusiastic everyone was. It looked like there was incredible determination to turn this around. That gave me a lot of motivation for my winter."

The high profile move created huge amounts of talk in the F1 world, many think Hamilton will fail to win in 2013. However some are more optimistic, but only time will tell.

Lewis is clearly fired up for the new challenge, and was particularly interested in the visit to the Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart.

The 2008 World Champion, who has made a few Twitter faux-pas in the past, tweeted "Speaking to AMG employees today. Thank you for having me!!" before posting pictures of some of Mercedes most powerful road cars on Instagram.
