This years GP2 champion Davide Valsecchi topped the final day of the Abu Dhabi Young Driver Test.
The Italian driver lapped the Yas Marina circuit in a best time of 1m42.667. He took over the Lotus E20 from DTM driver Edoardo Mortara and definitely impressed.
Kevin Magnussen took over the McLaren MP4-27. He ended the day with the second fastest time, after topping the time sheets on Tuesday. McLaren sporting director Sam Michael praised the youngster "His pace, consistency and engineering feedback were all excellent, given his performance, he certainly didn't look like a guy who had never turned a wheel in a modern F1 car before the start of this week."
Magnussen shared the car with fellow McLaren tester Oliver Turvey, who drove the car in the morning. While Kevin was 0.150 tenths shy of Valsecchi's top time, Turvey was over a second off the Italian.
Esteban Gutierrez showed some stunning form in the Sauber, just four tenths shy of topping the time sheets. Reports suggest Gutierrez could be promoted to a full time race seat with the team for 2013.
After testing for the Sauber team earlier in the week, Robin Frijn's tried the Red Bull RB8 out for size. He was fourth fastest, five tenths off.
Behind Turvey in fifth came Razia, who had his second full day in the Toro Rosso. The Brazilian did have a fever and he was struggling, but managed to complete his program.
Alexander Rossi drove the Caterham machinery for the closing day of the test. He was tied with Valsecchi for completing the most laps, both of them lapping the Yas Marina circuit 86 times. The Americans time was cut short thanks to oil on the garage floor.
He said on the problem "That meant I didn't have the chance to do any performance runs and I'm sure if I did, my lap times would have been close to the race drivers, but issues like that are just one of those things,"
"They'll take a proper look at what caused the problem and I'm sure it won't affect the team's preparations for Austin or Brazil."
