Marussia "must keep pushing"

Marussia have vowed to "keep pushing" following the teams best ever finish of 12th place at last weekends Singapore GP.

Timo Glock benefited from earlier incidents between Kobayashi and Hulkenberg to move into 12th spot. This result pushes the team into 10th place in the constructors, a position that Caterham have occupied for the last 2 years.

The battle for 10th place in the constructors is not based on points, but rather who finishes in the highest position. The Marussia team had previously never finished a race in that position, just one of two occasions a new team has finished in such a high position. Caterham, then Lotus Racing, clinched 10th in the constructors thanks to Heikki Kovalainen's 12th place at the Korean Grand Prix.

We have seen many 13th places, which often decide the championship order, but Marussia are not taking their current position for granted.

President and sporting director Graeme Lowdon told Autosport "We are well aware, like everyone else, that we still have to fight at every race from now until the end of the season.

"There can easily be carnage somewhere and it would be desperately disappointing if we are not at the front of the battle if that happens.

"None of the new teams have finished higher than 12th [since joining the grid in 2010], so statistically this is a mega result. But we cannot sit back and think that is it. We have to keep pushing."

Marussia have recently closed the gap on Caterham thanks to big upgrade packages, and with KERS coming into the team for next year the future is looking bright.

Glock did a great job to stay out of trouble and benefit from those who faltered, but for someone to recreate that result and take 10th away some major attrition is needed.

The Banbury based team must keep pushing for the remaining 6 races if they want to hold on to 10th place and get that all important financial reward.
