It was the 2nd day of testing at the Magny-Cours circuit in France. Just like yesterday, Ferrari, Force India and Mercedes tested their young drivers.
The young drivers testing today (Wednesday) were Davide Rigon in the Ferrari, Sam Bird in the Mercedes and Jules Bianchi in the Force India.
Jules Bianchi drove the Ferrari F1 car on the opening day, but switched from his young driver academy team to the one where he currently fills the spot of reserve driver. Sam Bird continued his running with Mercedes, who were testing some dramatic changes to the W03. Davide Rigon took over the Ferrari from Bianchi.
Despite Rigon being in slightly superior machinery, Bianchi managed to top the time sheets for the second day in a row. The French driver completed an impressive 117 tours of the track, with his best time of 1m16.467.
Sam Bird ended the day second quickest, a second off the pace of fellow WSR3.5 driver Bianchi. His best time of 1m17.482 the best of 125 laps, giving Mercedes more valuable data on their upgrades.
Rigon ended the day third in the Ferrari, after completing an impressive 163 laps. He was 1.5 seconds off the pace but it was vital experience for the Italian, who has raced in GP2. His work mainly focused on aero tests.
Pos Driver Team Time Laps
1. Jules Bianchi Force India-Mercedes 1m16.467s 117
2. Sam Bird Mercedes 1m17.482s + 1.015 125
3. Davide Rigon Ferrari 1m17.925s + 1.458 163
