The 2009 F1 World Champion and current Mclaren driver is a keen triathlete himself, his interest starting in 2007 as a need to focus on something other than his dismal season with Honda.

Button has completed a fair few triathlons but now will host his own event in aid of Help for Heroes. The event is being organised by "Human Race" and will be staged in Luton Hoo, Bedfordshire, on the 19th August 2012.

The Jenson Button Trust Triathlon will involve 500 athletes and Jenson himself. It involved a 300m swim, 10km bike ride and 2.5km run within the Luton Hoo estate. The triathlon format means the top 50 from this event will go through to a final and battle for podium positions.

The event is aimed at both amateur and professional triathletes. Any funds raised by participants will all go to the Help For Heroes charity.

Jenson commented on the event, saying “I’ve been talking about hosting my own Triathlon for a while now and am delighted it’s finally happening. I’ve been lucky enough to punish myself in triathlons around the world and it’s become a big part of my life and the perfect way to train for F1. I wanted to put on something different and give competitors more of a unique experience, which with the format and the venue I’m confident we’ll achieve. It’s also a great chance for everyone taking part to team up and help raise some money for a fantastic charity in Help For Heroes, we’ve set it up so everyone can fund raise together and there will even be some amazing prizes for the top fundraisers including a VIP trip to the Monaco Grand Prix in 2013 for the person who raises the most money! Look forward to seeing everyone on the day for what will be a great event.”
