4 drivers were involved in the test, Bottas in the Williams FW34, Max Chilton and Rio Haryanto in the Marussia MR-01 and Ma Qing Hua in the HRT. It was a predictable result for the test day, the FW34 far more superior compared to the 2 "newer" teams machines.

Bottas and Qing Hua had the whole day in their respected machines, while Chilton and Haryanto both shared the MR-01. Chilton had the car for the morning session before lunch, with Rio taking over the reigns for the afternoon.

Bottas completed 120 laps in the FW34, with a best time of 1m31.436. His time was split between short runs in the morning and long runs in the afternoon.

Chilton was 2nd, around 5 seconds off the Williams FP1 regulars pace. The Brit lapped the circuit 34 times in his half day, 15 more than Haryanto. Max's best time of 1m36.558 was 8 tenths faster than his GP2 team mate.

Ma Qing Hua improved his time as the day wore on, his best time of 1m37.829 being 5 tenths behind the slowest Marussia. This was during a soft tyre qualifying simulation. He spun on the exit of Village after activating the DRS too early.

The session was mainly dry but spots of rain started to fall at 16:30. However despite returning to the pits, Bottas re-emerged for one final run.
