There have been rumours circulating the F1 paddock, saying that Mark Webber is set to replace Felipe Massa at Ferrari for the 2013 season.
Rumours in F1 travel far and are often twisted, so Webber has given this particular rumour some closure.
There rumours have caused a stir on social network sites and in the F1 world, but Webber told ESPNF1 that he has not been in talks to sign a contract with the Italian giant. "There's a whole season ahead of us before we need to think about the future. One day the talk is about Jenson (Button joining Ferrari), then it's Sergio, now it's me. I haven't signed anything, My focus is on this team. We have had a good start to the season, we're only four races down and the road is very, very long before we start talking about the future."
There had been reports from Spain that Webber would make the move from current team Red Bull. However the interview with ESPNF1 emphasises the fact that it is just a "rumour".
I do not think a move to Ferrari would benefit Webber in any way that his current seat at Red Bull is. He would fall back as number 2 behind Alonso and that is a similar position that he is in with Vettel this season. Every driver admits to drive for Ferrari would be special but Webber has no place in the Italian squad that he currently has at Red Bull.
