The BBC sold the TV rights of F1 to Sky Sports in the middle of 2011. The 10 races the BBC will show on free to view TV are:

  • 15 April: China

  • 13 May: Spain

  • 27 May: Monaco

  • 24 June: Europe

  • 8 July: Britain

  • 2 September: Belgium

  • 23 September: Singapore

  • 14 October: Korea

  • 4 November: Abu Dhabi

  • 25 November: Brazil

  • All these races will be shown in the normal format which we have been very familiar with for the last 3 years. They will show all practice sessions on the red button, qualifying and the race with the F1 forum afterwards on the red button. All the BBCF1 team will be at every race.

Of the 10 races which Sky Sports will show, the BBC will show 90 minute highlights every evening of the race and 75 minute highlights of qualifying. These will be shown at 17:30PM for European races on BBC 1 and 14:00PM on BBC 1 for Far Eastern races.

The BBC's coverage will stretch from radio, TV, website and the red button as it has been doing at the moment. It will also all be shown in HD. The BBC F1 website will stream live coverage from their shown races and the highlights from the others.

The full line up for Sky and any changes to the BBC F1 team have have yet to be confirmed.
