F1 2011 Game

I, as are many more F1 fans, eagerly awaiting the release of the new F1 2011 game. It is set for release in the UK on the 23rd September, 20th September for North America and 22nd September for Australia.

It will be released on Xbox 360, PS3, PC while it is planned for release on added platforms of Nintendo 3DS and Playstation Vita but dates of release will be unveiled at a later date.

I am extremely excited about some of the new features added. It obviously has been built to be as close to real F1 as possible, so new things like DRS and KERS are added extras for passing cars. I think i will struggle at first with the extra buttons but it takes time with all new games to get to grips with the controls.

The new circuits are also exciting, as the graphics and details have been enhanced and modified to make it more realistic. This means we get to see the new Indian Circuit before they even race on it. Nurburgring will have some stunning backdrops and it is great to have new circuits to try out.

The tyres will be difficult for me because of the higher wear rate. I am a very aggressive driver on F1 2010 so I will be making quite a few pit stops. On the subject of pit stops i hope they change the way you have to wait 10-15 seconds if you pit in traffic while every goes past you, as it would be 'unsafe release'. This really does frustrate me as it happened today, i went from 1st to 16th.

I am planning to get Xbox live when F1 2011 comes out so I can play online with twitter followers and blog fans, maybe. It is really cool to have a full grid, even if some are Al. I also like the Co-op championship because it is real rivalry with a person at similar standards to you, or not. But it really does add to the whole 'Go compete' aspect along with split screen.

There has been alot of speculation about the safety car being in the game, and the team have done an excellent job of hiding the truths behind the game. There was a flash of 'SC' boards in the F1 2011 trailer which sparked huge rumours but i would quite like it to be kept as a surprise until you play the game.

One area I would like improved is the 'Live the Life' aspect as in 2010 it was just a rectangle pen, I would like in the future to be able to walk around, and get asked questions by fans, sign autographs, talk to personnel and drivers. I don't think that will happen in 2011 but it would be nice to have some freedom around the paddock.

The driving has apparently been improved and it feels more realistic to the tyres, track and handling of the car as a whole. I felt F1 2010 was too twitchy even with TC on, especially on kerbs.
