Seven of the nine drivers taking part completed over 100 laps, while McLaren was forced to cut short its running once again.

Kevin Magnussen sampled the McLaren MP4-30 for the first time, making his debut as the team's test and reserve driver after replacing the recovering Fernando Alonso.

Felipe Massa, Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean were the first to take to the circuit. It was a busy start to the morning session, with Lewis Hamilton setting the opening timed lap - a 1:35.324.

Massa and Hamilton traded fastest times throughout the morning, with the former's quick super-soft run leaving him with the best time of the session - a 1:23.262. It was a productive morning, with no red flag interruptions.

The Williams FW37 was the first car to return to the track after the lunch break. The afternoon session got off to a quiet start, with the majority of the teams switching focus to race simulations.

Raikkonen and Nico Hulkenberg soon passed the 100-lap mark, with five other drivers joining them by the end of the day. Magnussen's running ended early thanks to an oil leak, but the Danish rookie was pleased with his first impressions of the MP4-30.

Hamilton improved to a 1:24.181 on the medium compound, before a switch to the softs saw the 2014 champion jump up to first place on the timesheets. His 1:23.022 proved to be unbeatable and the Englishman ended the day quickest for Mercedes, completing 76 laps.

Massa's morning time was good enough for second, with the Brazilian managing 102 laps and completing the Williams team's day three programme. Raikkonen was 0.014 seconds further back in third, after a productive and positive session for Ferrari.

Carlos Sainz Jr brought out a late red flag after stopping at turn three, just after improving to fourth with a 1:24.191. Grosjean also set a personal best in the final hour of the afternoon, finishing fifth for Lotus. Marcus Ericsson was sixth for Sauber. He stopped on track at turn three 20 minutes prior to Sainz Jr's problem, bringing out the first red flag of the day. Nevertheless, the Swede completed 123 laps.

Force India's VJM08 debuted on track on Friday morning. Hulkenberg remained behind the wheel of the car on day three of the test, managing the most laps of anyone (158) and finishing seventh on the timesheets. Magnussen fell to eighth, completing 39 laps, and Daniel Ricciardo completed the results after a quiet but rewarding day driving the Red Bull RB11.
