2014 Austrian Grand Prix

As some of you may know, I will be going to the next round on the F1 calendar in Austria, reporting on all the action for Richland F1.

This is something that I have been working towards for quite some time, so it is fantastic to see that all my hard work has paid off.

Having successfully gained accreditation for the event, I wanted to share some thoughts ahead of my paddock debut at the Red Bull Ring.

Firstly, I must say a massive thank you to Luke Smith – Editor-in-Chief and Founder of Richland F1 – for giving me this opportunity. I remember when he approached me asking if I would like to write for the site two years ago, before it had even been launched.

I was sceptical at first, but I swiftly realised what a great opportunity it was. Since then, the website has gone from strength to strength, becoming more established and well known. It has been fantastic to see the rapid rate of progression from the very beginning and I am so proud that I will get the chance to represent Richland F1 at the Austrian Grand Prix.

Ever since I started writing, the goal has obviously been to attend races and report on all the latest news and action. It may sound quite cheesy, but my dream is now coming true, which is very exciting. This is also my next step to becoming a journalist, which is what I want to be known as, not just a blogger.

I can’t wait to see the new-spec F1 cars take to the Red Bull Ring and to actually visit the track myself. I remember getting the F1 2000 Playstation game when I was younger and the track instantly became my favourite. Despite having very few corners, it is a fast and challenging track and it also seems to be located in a stunning and beautiful part of the world.

Obviously over the weekend my full focus will be on providing content for the Richland F1 website, so be sure to add it to your favourites so you don’t miss out on anything from the paddock. Also follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook page too, as I will be posting some behind-the-scenes images when I have a spare moment.

I will try and get up articles on here every day detailing what I have been up to and my thoughts on the experience, so watch out for those (they may be posted very late, we will have to wait and see). But I may be posting less regularly on my blog and other sites that I contribute to, due to being fully committed to getting pieces up on Richland F1.

I will try and post plenty of pictures on my social networks as well - such as Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and Instagram – so be sure to follow me on those, hopefully it will give you a little look into my experience.

Overall, I am really looking forward to the next race on the calendar, although I am a bit nervous. I will be travelling with Luke as well as Leanne Boon from my photography partners Octane Photographic – thanks so much for driving me, looking forward to the road trip – on Wednesday.

So, what are my expectations for the Austrian Grand Prix? Work-wise, it will be a very busy few days. It won’t be easy but I will try and learn as much as I can, do the best job possible and try to enjoy the whole experience as well.

Racing-wise, the long straights will certainly suit the Mercedes-powered cars. Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg’s battle at the front will certainly be a close one, with the former determined to secure a good result after his retirement last time out. It should be a fantastic weekend and I really can’t wait.
