The announcement was made during a press conference in Monte Carlo just prior to third practice for the Monaco Grand Prix.

It was attended by Petronas president and group CEO Tan Sri Dato’ Shamsul Azhar Abbas, Dr Dieter Zetsche – chairman of the board of management, Daimler AG and head of Mercedes-Benz cars – and head of Mercedes-Benz motorsport, Toto Wolff.

The partnership between Mercedes and Petronas kicked off in 2010, when the Silver Arrows returned to Formula 1 as a works team in for the first time since 1955.

To mark the new deal, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg's 2014 W05 F1 cars will feature enhanced Petronas branding for the remainder of the season.

"Ever since 2010, our relationship with Petronas has been founded on the values of true partnership: trust, honesty and shared ambition,” said Wolff.

"In that time, Petronas has become the most prominent energy company in Formula 1 and we have worked as one to develop a world-class partnership in Fluid Technology Solutions that has delivered a measurable on-track advantage in 2014.

"The result is a partnership that has delivered on every level. It is therefore a proud moment to further extend this agreement and build towards a decade of partnership between Mercedes-Benz and Petronas."

The Brackley-based outfit is currently dominating the 2014 Formula 1 season. It was won all five races so far and scored four consecutive one-two finishes.
