2014 Monaco Grand Prix in pictures

Nico Rosberg stormed to his second win of the 2014 season at the Monaco Grand Prix, reclaiming the championship lead.

Thursday

Lewis Hamilton's Monaco Grand Prix weekend got off to a good start on Thursday. The Brit was fastest in first practice, just ahead of his team-mate.

The second session was rather quiet, with rain limiting running early on. Conditions improved enough for a few frantic laps on the slick tyres, with Fernando Alonso topping the timesheets.

Adrian Sutil was the only driver to find the wall during Thursday practice, after losing control at Mirabeau.

Marcus Ericsson revealed a special one-off helmet for the Monaco Grand Prix. The design was a tribute to Ronnie Peterson on the 40th anniversary of his win around the Monte Carlo streets.

Thursday was a positive day for Red Bull, with Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel looking closer to the Mercedes drivers in first and second practice.

Saturday

Following the "rest day" on Friday, the 2014 grid returned to the Circuit de Monaco for third practice, which was topped by Lewis Hamilton.

Sauber had another dismal qualifying session, with both Esteban Gutierrez and Sutil dropping out in Q1.

The Lotus duo struggled in the slow corners and both failed to progress to Q3, with Romain Grosjean qualifying 14th and Pastor Maldonado 15th.

Sergio Perez progressed to the top 10 shoot-out in the Force India, unlike his team-mate Nico Hulkenberg who qualified 11th.

Daniil Kvyat recovered from a crash in Q1 to make it through to the final session. He qualified ninth in the Toro Rosso, just behind fellow rookie Kevin Magnussen.

Rosberg stormed to pole position in controversial circumstances. The German driver went off track at Mirabeau on his final run, which brought out the yellow flags and meant Hamilton couldn't improve. Some felt he did it on purpose, but the FIA disagreed following a detailed investigation.

Sunday

Rosberg had a good start from pole and held on to the lead into the first corner, with Hamilton also maintaining his position.

There were changes further back, with Ricciardo falling to fifth after a poor getaway from the grid.

The safety car was deployed on lap two after Perez collided with Jenson Button and found the wall at Mirabeau.

Rosberg was challenged by Hamilton for the majority of the 78-lap race, but the Brit fell back in the closing stages.

Ricciardo rapidly closed in on Hamilton in the final laps and finished just four tenths behind the 2008 world champion in third.

Vettel had a good start but slipped back after the first safety car period. He eventually retired with a power-unit problem.

Raikkonen was on course for a strong result when he was hit by Max Chilton during the second safety car period, as the Brit attempted to move back onto the lead lap. The Finn was forced to pit with a puncture before a collision with Kevin Magnussen in the closing stages dropped him outside of the points.

Rosberg was rightfully delighted after the race, while Hamilton was far from happy.
