Schumacher remains "critical but stable"

Michael Schumacher's manager has confirmed that he remains in a "critical but stable" condition following his sixth night in a coma.

The seven-time F1 champion continues to be treated at the Grenoble University Hospital in France. Fans travelled to the city on Friday and held a silent vigil for his 45th birthday.

Reports suggesting that his life was no longer in danger, from comments by ex-F1 driver Philippe Streiff, were rubbished by Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm in a statement on Saturday morning.

She asked media not to speculate on his condition, saying that official information will only be released via the hospital or herself.

"Michael's condition remains critical but stable," Kehm said. "We would like to clearly stress that any information regarding Michael's health not coming from the doctors treating him or from his management must be treated as invalid and pure speculation.

"The family cares only for Michael's health."

However, she did confirm that a camera attached to Schumacher's helmet when his skiing accident took place is being investigated by authorities.

"Michael's helmet camera was voluntarily given to the investigating authorities by the family," she continued.

"That this should have been done against the wishes of the family is untrue. We ask you to respect the continued privacy of the family."

Another update on his condition is not expected before Monday: "In consultation with the doctor's treating Michael, it is not expected that there will be any press conference before Monday."

My thoughts continue to be with Schumacher and his family, I wish him a speedy recovery.
