The Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team will launch their 2014 car prior to the first day of winter testing at the Jerez circuit.
The Brackley-based outfit unveiled their 2013 car in a similar style last season. In replies to fans on Twitter, the team confirmed that the W05 will make its debut on January 28th.
A team spokesperson clarified to RichlandF1 that there would not be a launch before that date, with Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton uncovering their new machine in the Jerez pit lane.
Four days of winter testing will take place at the Spanish circuit before heading to the warmer climates of Bahrain for the final eight days.
However, the Lotus team will be absent from the Jerez test. They announced yesterday, in an interview by the team with technical director Nick Chester, that they have opted to skip the test.
Instead, they will use the extra time to develop the E22 before its debut in Bahrain.
The launch date confirms that Mercedes will take part in the opening test.
Meanwhile McLaren confirmed their launch on Twitter, sharing the following picture:
