Vettel and Red Bull extend partnership

Formula 1's most recent formidable force, Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull Racing, will continue for a little while longer at least.

Red Bull announced today that they have extended their contract with Vettel to the end of 2015.

In a statement released today - which was short but simple - said "Infiniti Red Bull Racing is happy to confirm that World Champion Sebastian Vettel has extended his multi-year contract with the team until the end of 2015.

The Vettel/Austrian Energy Drink Brand partnership has been long established after he was part of their young driver academy. He then made his debut in Formula 1 with the brand in the shape of their junior or sister team Toro Rosso.

After stepping in to the team towards the end of 2007, Vettel went on to take his first victory in the sport on his 22nd attempt at the Monza circuit in Italy - a day after he snatched his debut pole position.

One full season was enough for Red Bull to see his potential and he was promoted to a race drive in 2009, replacing David Coulthard and lining up alongside Mark Webber. Some predicted big things but no one expected him to win the inter-team battle with his experienced Australian team-mate.

The German eventually finished the season as runner-up before taking the title (only just) in 2010. He dominated the 2011 season to become the youngest ever double world champion and he topped that all off last season by beating Fernando Alonso to the crown.

His relatively short but hugely successful career has spawned 29 race victories, 39 pole positions and 51 podium finishes. He is currently racing in his fifth season for the Milton Keynes based squad where he has taken all but one of his race victories, pole positions and podium finishes (his sole win for Toro Rosso in 2008).

Now the "magic three" of Vettel, Team Principal Christian Horner and design genius Adrian Newey will continue to work together; there's no way Red Bull are dropping away from the lead battle any time soon.
