Red Bull have scoured through huge amounts of data and have unearthed the true and record breaking times of their Malaysian Grand Prix pit stops.
The team has revealed that five of their pit stops in Malaysia were below the former record set by McLaren, 2.31 seconds, at last years German Grand Prix held at the Hockenheim circuit.
They claim that Mark Webber's second stop on lap 19 broke the former record by almost 0.30 seconds, the Aussie going from stopping in the box to being dropped down from the rear jack in just 2.05 seconds.
The Milton Keynes based squad showed some strong consistency in their pit stops, four other visits to the pit lane (three for Webber and one for Vettel) were sub the 2.3 second barrier formerly set by Woking based McLaren.
Red Bull Racing's feat went largely unnoticed due to the controversy surrounding the Grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel defied team orders to overtake team-mate Webber and duly won the race, much to the anger and frustration of the team.
However looking through the huge volumes of data back at the teams HQ has unearthed the discovery. They also admit that sub two second stops are possible this season.
