Bianchi Feels Ready for Force India Drive

Jules Bianchi has spoke out about the remaining Force India seat, saying he feels prepared to step up and race with the team.

He drove with the Silverstone based squad on the final day of the Jerez test, some suggesting it was to access his performance or that he is already negotiating a contract.

Talking to Autosport Bianchi said "I do feel ready. I’ve had quite a bit of mileage in Formula 1 now and I feel ready to drive in a race,”

“If the plan was to stay a third driver for two years, now the plan has changed and I’m ready."

Force India wanted to retain him as their reserve and test driver for 2013, but Hulkenberg's switch to Sauber came as a surprise. Bianchi also admitted his Friday Practice outings were not the best.

“On Friday mornings in the free practice sessions I was not the best at first, it’s true.

“After Magny-Cours I was a lot better. At Magny-Cours I showed the team that I was quick, and I did here again.

“I just try to do the best when I drive the car and that’s it.”

The seat looks set to go to either Bianchi or Adrian Sutil, who drove for the team from 2007 (where they were known as Spyker), to 2011.

Bianchi was the teams reserve and test driver in 2012 and completed plenty of miles in the VJM05, as well as testing the VJM06 at Jerez. He was runner-up in the Formula Renault 3.5 series last year too, as he kept himself busy and ready for the drive.

Paul Di Resta is currently the sole Force India driver for 2013 and completed most of their testing programme, as well as revealing the car alone at the launch.
