Typically for me, we were at the back of the queue despite getting to the Norwich branch of Waterstone's on time. We waited almost an hour, but it was worth it to meet someone who I have looked up to since he broke in to F1 in 2009. The people attending the book signing for his first release "The Inside Track" were a mix, some were avid F1 fans. In contrast, others just wanted the book signed as a Christmas present.
As with the Sky Sports F1 press day, I was both excited and a bit nervous about meeting a famous face. I did not want to embarrass myself or come off quiet, and the wait in line seemed to go on forever! I went along to the signing with my Mum and Sister, who both wandered off from time to time.
The book was obviously very popular, seeing as Waterstone's actually sold out of The Inside Track by the time he started signing them. The queue edged forward every now and again, but after an hour of waiting we got to meet him.

Surprisingly for me, he remembered my blog and the review itself. He said "I got a few dates wrong didn't I", which made me very pleased. He made it obvious that not only had he seen my review, but he had also read it.
We had a quick discussion about the blog. He explained that he had thought I was a "50 year old professional journalist" which I hope was a compliment (unless he saw the picture at the top and still thought that).
The image below shows the message in my copy of "The Inside Track". I'm always grateful for meeting a famous face because I usually have to travel long distances. It is not often that someone famous comes to Norfolk.
I just wanted to write a quick post about the experience because I was so excited that he remembered me and my work, particularly that he thought I was a professional and not 17. Jake is a lovely chap and he still had a good spirit, despite the ticking clock and the fact he had signed over 100 books previous to mine.
If you ever have a chance to meet a hero or they pass by near you, I will always say do it because it is a great feeling to shake hands with someone you look up to and admire.
I have watched Jake on my TV screen for a long time. As he progressed up the BBC ladder, I was growing up watching shows like Bamzooki.
Despite mainly watching Sky this year, I spent 3 years watching Jake and still tune in to bbcf1 sometimes. Jake is a great F1 presenter so I hope he makes a return, and he will be missed for sure. Thanks Jake for the kind words, shaking my hand and signing my copy of the book.
I'm giving away 3 copies of the book in my JLF1 Blog competition. Enter here: http://www.jackleslief1.blogspot.co.uk/p/competition_24.html

I've been fortunate to meet Jake Humphrey on two occasions within a couple of months last year, and he recognized me which was incredible!
