Mclaren get nosey

Mclaren will run the MP4-27 at the Spanish GP with a revised nose.

The nose cone of the car, driven at the recent Mugello test by Oliver Turvey and Gary Paffett, is significantly higher than the previous specification nose. Mclaren have been renowned for their low noses, one of the reasons why they did not need to add the ugly "step" in the other teams nose cones.

Martin Whitmarsh said it is "likely" that the team will switch to this nose cone specification after seeing good progress at Mugello. He said during a Vodafone call-in that it will be on the car in Barcelona and will almost certainly be on the car for the race.

He said "There's a reasonable chance we will see it on Sunday, which will be the first time our drivers experience it, We got a lot of feedback from Mugello, so we have the data to set it up and can find the performance on track."

The higher nose could gain them a few tenths and the plus point is, for me, that it does not affect the stunning look of the MP4-27.
