Force India and Aerolab dispute settled

Force India and Aerolab, used for their wind tunnel, have settled their dispute after Vijay Mallya claimed they passed on information on their car's design to Team Lotus to help them develop their car.

It was deemed by the high court that Mike Gascoyne and Team Lotus, now Caterham F1 Team, were cleared of any copyright claims. However the Force India team had to fork out $800,000 in compensation for Aerolab, who they were partners with in 2009, due to unpaid fee's.
However, it may come as some small consolation that Force India were granted $25,000 of compensation on the grounds that some of the CAD files were copied in order for designers at Aerolab to take shortcuts.

Aerolab managing director Jean-Claude Migeot was very happy that his company, Caterham and Mike Gascoyne had been cleared of any wrong doing. "It has taken a long time but I am extremely happy and relieved to see 1Malaysia Racing Team (Caterham) and Mike Gascoyne cleared of any wrongdoing," he said in a statement.

It is bad news for Force India as the team have been struggling with finances. Vijay Mallya's other projects have been problematic and not been generating the financial requirements. Now they have to pay out $800,000 it is not looking good for the people in the finance department at the Force India factory.
