The Irishman is one of F1's favourite faces, currently walking around the paddock as the BBCF1's analyst. He is said to be both "surprised" and "overjoyed" by the recognition.

Jordan, 63, once owned his own F1 team under his name. They went on to score 4 wins and a best constructors finish of 3rd in 1999. He sold the team in 2005 but had welcomed a number of F1 drivers into the sport, such as Michael Schumacher,

He said "I got a brown envelope and I thought it was another tax enquiry looking for more money," he laughed. "So I put it to one side and when I had another look I saw it had the Foreign and Commonwealth department stamped on it. "I thought 'I don't have much contact with that department' so I had another look. And there it was."
