Alguersuari turns down HRT Seat

Jaime Alguersuari has turned down the second race seat at the Spanish F1 team HRT. The team are keen to have an all Spanish team but Alguersuari turned the move down, admitting it would be a "step backwards" in his career.

The Spanish 21 year old was dropped from the Toro Rosso team at the end of the 2011 season and has been replaced by 2 new drivers, Jean Eric-Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo. Alguersuari is still hoping for a test or reserve drive spot at one of the top teams, possibly at the Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes team after losing Pedro De La Rosa to HRT.

Comment you views below, should he have turned it down?

I think it was good of Alguersuari to turn down the HRT team; he's right in saying that it would be a "step backwards" in his career.

I think its a good move on his part, but it's a toughie. I hope he ends up testing at Mclaren. It's a double edged sword though. In the HRT he would at least keep his name out there. I see him doing well later, and he isn't that old so there is plenty of time
