Here are all the latest stories from the Formula One world, on the run up to the only night race on the 2011 calendar.
This includes:
*Jenson Button, driver for Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes, has admitted Mclaren have made too many errors to challenge Vettel for the 2011 title, despite mathematically being in with a chance. "We've made too many mistakes this year and haven't got it together on a race weekend, even when we've had the performance," said Button, who is 117 points behind leader Vettel. He also admitted it is not just himself who is suffering, Hamilton his team mate has also saw catastrophic results due to errors, such as Qualifying in Monaco and the wrong strategy choice losing him more time behind Schumacher in Italy. No doubt Lewis has made his won mistakes, but Button has lost out the most due to an unreliable car, he had a hydraulics failure in Germany, a lose wheel nut in Britain, a miscommunication in Belgium caused him to qualify 13th. But Button has emphasised the car has had the pace, they just have not been in the position to capitalise on that.
*Bernie Ecclestone is keen to travel back to countries of classic F1 races, such as South Africa and Mexico in the near future after the British Entrepreneur admitted that he wanted to return there, after 2014, which is when the Russian Grand Prix will make its debut. Its been reported both countries are trying to sort out plans for future developments such as a return of F1. The 2011 season would of topped 20 races, the limit the teams have decided on for now, but the Bahrain Grand Prix was cancelled, so that will be filled next year with the USA Gp joining the calendar in replacement for the Turkish race.
*Force India have admitted to keeping their options open over driver line ups for 2012 until later in the year, with not only Di Resta, Hulkenberg but now Sutil too admitting its where they want to be driving next year. After a visit to the Williams factory recently, Sutil put to rest his main priority is the ever improving Force India team. He, along with current rookie team mate Paul Di Resta and reserve driver Nico Hulkenberg have all expressed their feelings of wanting to drive for the team next year, yet all agree with the descision to wait till later on to decide.
*Former Ferrari and Mclaren driver Kimi Raikkonen has been eyeing a seat with the Williams F1 team for 2012, after quiting the sport at the end of 2009 to focus on other Motorsport based projects. He has recently been contesting in the World Rally championship, but has not had the results he would like. He has been in talks with the team and is eager for a return, but the question is what kind of salary would Williams be able to pay to the 2007 World Champion after their recent financial problems. If he did join the team for 2012, the most likely person to be booted out of a seat would be Veteran Rubens Barrichello, after 20 seasons in the sport, who's future looks shaky, but no confirmed reports have been heard.
*Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and Mclaren's Lewis Hamilton have praised Sebastian Vettel, current points leader, for his year so far, and both agree he deserves to win his 2nd title. Alonso said "He's been the best driver, with the best team. They deserve to be where they are." while Hamilton revealed he has been "exceptional this year". Hamiltons team mate Jenson Button has also expressed praise to the Red Bull driver, who will be taking the Singapore Gp like any other despite the fact he could clinch the title saying "its a long way to the chequered flag".
*Fernando Alonso has targeted his 3rd Singapore Grand Prix victory in 4 years but admits it will be "very hard" to achieve it, while leader of the points Sebastian Vettel has said he is in it to win it too.
*Jenson Button has taken a rather practical approach to the next few fly away races, as he is renting a flat in Tokyo with his girlfriend Jessica Michibata for the fly away races of Singapore, Japan and Korea.
*Jenson Button is said to be keeping his options open for a possible Ferrari drive in 2013 with Felipe Massa's contract running out next year. He has been stalling a long term contract with the Mclaren team with the hope of a move to Ferrari. Its been no secret Ferrari, along with Alonso, have been eyeing the 2009 F1 world champion for a while now. Martin Whitmarsh, head of Mclaren, has been keen to sign Button into a long term contract, but Button wants to add to his 1 world title, and if Mclaren can not answer that then he will look elsewhere.
*The Singapore Grand Prix is scheduled for mixed conditions for the race weekend, with Heikki Kovalianen phrasing the temperature as "quite cool" while also admitting there were "some showers around".
*The driver steward for the Singapore Grand Prix will be former Sauber, Jordan and Williams driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who is taking over the reigns for the second time in 2 years after also having the role at last years European Grand Prix at Valencia.
*The organisers of the Indian Grand Prix set for an October date have tweeted pictures of the track, just a month or so till race day. The progress has been consistent, with the majority of the work having already been finished.
*Ferrari will test a new rear wing at this weekends Grand Prix, it was planned for testing earlier in the year but the team have switched focus to the 2012 car, with Alonso predicting a strong weekend for the team in Singapore will help him secure 2nd in the world championship.
*Pirelli are taking the Soft and Super-Soft tyre to Singapore, while admitting its tricky to predict as night time temperatures vary from session to session.
