  • Hamilton apologises for Spa crash with Kobayashi.
  • Button wants to sign with Mclaren for 2012.
  • Robert Kubica's final surgery is a success.

* Lewis Hamilton has apologised to Kamui Kobayashi after they crashed on lap 13 of last weekends Belgian Grand Prix at Spa Francourchamps. The pair collided going into the braking zone of Les Combes where the Sauber's right front wheel touched Hamiltons left rear, causing the later to spin into the barrier. The British driver put his hands up and admitted he was at fault in the incident. Lewis tweeted "After watching the replay, I realize it was my fault today 100%. I didn't give Kobayashi enough room though I thought I was past."

He later said "it was unfortunate as we were in a strong position" but also admitted the Mclaren struggled with top speed, revealing he thought he was past, when he was not.

* It is reported Jenson Button wants a clause in his contract activated so he can continue to drive with British based team Mclaren. This means he will be a Mclaren driver for 2012. Button has said he "wants to be there" and believes that he can fight for wins and championships in their cars. He also revealed feeling more confident than ever before following 2 wins so far this season, and feeling more confident in the team as well.

* Robert Kubica, former Renault F1 driver, has undergone surgery on his right elbow, trying to give him full movement in that joint. It is the last surgical procedure that Kubica will face and his surgeon has said it was "a total success". Kubica seriously injured his arm, wrist and hand in a Rallying crash in February. He will now stay in hospital for a few days before continuing training and rehabilitation. It is still unclear whether the Polish driver will return to open wheel racing ever again.

* Naughty boy Pastor Maldonado has said he will "not relax" after scoring his first point of the season in Belgium. The Venezuelan, Williams driver scored his first point in his whole career after finishing 10th in last weekends race. He also said Hamilton and Pastor have cleared the air after a bizarre incident which looked like Maldonado drove into Hamilton after the Mclaren driver passed him in qualifying at the final chicane.

* Nico Rosberg is extremely happy with his, and the teams, performance at Spa last weekend. He also quoted his highlight as leading the first lap, describing it as 'Special'. He also revealed that he was not confident of Mercedes pace and was pleasantly surprised.

* Mclaren are not finished on this years championship this year, says team boss Martin Whitmarsh. There are seven races left, and despite being over 120 points behind in the constructors championship, and both drivers being over 100 points behind drivers championship leader Vettel, he said  "The championship looks pretty ambitious, but for the moment we have to be positive."
